Pilot, I read your great post and others and mulled it over and came up with a couple of things to add.. Nobody has really mentioned anything about tire pressure and how many people think more is better. It is somewhat the case up to a point. Ive found that setting the front pressure about 2 to 3 psi higher than the rears gives the car a more planted feel. If the rears are the same or higher than the fronts, the rear tends to hop around and is very unstable. Having the tire pressure too low and the car just plows, too high and the car plows. Of course, certain conditions demand different pressures, like road racing requires some increase in pressure to help prevent the tires from chunking and from rolling on the sidewalls, etc. Getting back to the too high pressure in the tires thing.. Most performance tires can be inflated to 44psi, but they dont necessarily perform best at the pressure. Changes in tire pressure change the tire contact patch. The contact patch is a fixed area based on the weight of the car. Going to wider tires elongates the patch side to side, narrow tires elongates the patch from front to rear, etc. Added/removing tire pressure does stranges things. Too much and the tire rides on the middle of the tread, too little and the tire rides on the sidewalls. So, when you add more air than needed you can actually lose some traction because you are basically going to a skinner tire.So, what do I run? For everyday driving in a 2800 pound car, I run 33F/30R. This makes it feel like the rear is along for the ride and the front is doing the driving. You can probably go up about 3psi without too many problems, but get the rears over 35psi and I bet it will look like somebody took a needle to the tire and took little chunks out of the tread.- Ken[This message has been edited by kpratte (edited April 12, 2001).]order generic lean tea india
